Medicare or also known as Medigap is a type of supplement for insurance that covers gaps that are not included in the patient or individual’s current Medicare subscription. This supplement is being offered in different health benefits that has the role to offset any medication or healthcare costs that are not part of the original policy.
Two Important Parts of Medicare Supplements
The Medicare Supplements have two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A covers all hospital services while Part B answers to other medical costs and expenses. The majority of hospitals accepts Medicare so any subscriber can use it for any medical institutions that have accredited Medicare.

Coverage
Medicare Part A is said to cover hospital services such as:
In-patient hospital needs
  • A nursing help after the patient was over on his/her hospital stay
  • Health care to be done at home
  • Hospice care
  • At least three pints of blood annually

Medicare Part B covers hospital expenses and other medical needs that also include:
  • Access to clinical laboratory services
  • Outpatient hospital medication and treatment
  • Medical supplies and other needed medical equipment
  • Preventive health care services like medical check-ups, health screening, vaccines, and other health exams

Medicare also has an additional coverage option – Medicare Part D. The said addition covers prescription drugs that are needed by the patient. The supplement pays for any medicine prescribed by a physician either generic or under a brand name.

Any subscriber can add Medicare Part D to have them covered, or they can apply it as a stand-alone coverage to keep them covered by any unexpected or currently prescribed medicines. Some insurance companies accredited by Medicare offers Part D.

If an individual is subscribed to Part A and Part B, he is eligible for Medicare Part C also known as the Medicare Advantage Plan. This plan option can depend or vary on the location of the insurance owner.

What Medicare Supplements Do Not Cover
Now that the different coverages of Medicare Supplements guide you, it is also advantageous to know what it does not cover:
  • Beyond 100 days of nursing assistance at home. Medicare Part A only covers the first 60 days of nursing assistants. If beyond that, patients will be regularly charged by the hospital or by Medicare.
  • Private Nurse
  • Dental Care + dentures
  • Eye care, hearing aids, eyeglasses, and other eye-related routines
  • Cosmetic surgery and foot-related care

There are several payment options you can practice for Medicare. These options are premiums, deductibles, copayment, or coinsurance. At Berlin & Denys Insurance, we do our best in making sure that our clients are well-protected with affordable and comprehensive policies. I liked how this post shared that additional coverage for medicare provides coverage for prescription drugs. My mother wants her prescription drugs to be covered by her insurance. I should advise her to choose a medicare supplemental insurance plan that provides this coverage.

Thanks for helping me understand that Medicare supplemental insurance coverages Part A and B will cover the hospital services and other medical costs and expenses, respectively. It seem like getting this kind of policy is a great idea for someone who would need them when they get older and acquire various health conditions. Personally, I might consider getting myself covered when I reach my senior years so that my family or kids will not be burdened with any medical expenses I might have.

I appreciate that you explained that coverage options could help understand the best Medicare insurance solutions. My cousin informed me the other night that she was planning to fix her Medicare insurance and its benefits to make the most out of her coverage. She asked if I had ideas about what would be the best option for consultation. I appreciate the helpful article for the information on the best approach for having Medicare insurance planning. I'll consult a trusted Medicare insurance service as they can help us with our health concerns.
